The Three Routes at a Glance
| Route | Entry cost | Where ads appear | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Official TON self-serve (ads.telegram.org) | Min CPM 0.1 TON; start reportedly ~20 TON | "Sponsored" messages in 1,000+ subscriber public channels | Official |
| Official resellers (eLama, Aitarget, etc.) | Deposits typically €1,500–€5,000 + commission (reported) | Same sponsored-message inventory, EUR billing, more formats | Official partners |
| Direct channel posts / marketplaces | ~$10–50 small channels → $1,500–5,000 at 100k+ subs (typical, negotiated) | Inside the channel's own feed as regular posts | Unofficial |
Route 1: The Official TON Self-Serve Platform
The route most crypto teams should look at first, because it's official, cheap to test, and pays in the ecosystem's own coin. From Telegram's own documentation:
- Pricing: you bid a CPM in Toncoin with an official minimum of 0.1 TON per 1,000 impressions. No official minimum deposit is stated; third parties report starting around 20 TON.
- Format: up to 160 characters, one link, shown at the bottom of public channels with 1,000+ subscribers, always labeled "Sponsored". Premium users don't see ads.
- The catch: on the TON platform all links must stay inside Telegram — a t.me channel or bot. External websites are prohibited, so your funnel must land on a Telegram property first.
- Targeting: you can target specific channels; settings lock after creation, and every ad passes human review. Your destination channel must be active (posted within the previous two weeks) with a complete profile.
- Style rules: no excessive caps, emoji, line breaks or Unicode art — plain, clear copy passes.
- Money terms: unspent balance is non-refundable and non-withdrawable, and Telegram reserves the right to change the minimum CPM — fund incrementally.
- Channel owners earn 50% of ad revenue in TON — which is why quality channels tolerate the ads.
Route 2: Resellers and the Legacy Direct Tier
Before the TON platform, official access meant the famous €2 million direct tier (€1M of it a deposit, forfeited unless €10M was spent within a year — terms reported when the program launched). That tier effectively lives on for agencies. Today's practical middle path is official resellers (eLama, Aitarget, OneSpot and others), with entry deposits typically reported around €1,500–€5,000 plus commission and VAT — you get EUR billing, account support and, per agency reports, earlier access to newer formats (short video ads, search placements) that aren't yet documented on Telegram's public pages.
Route 3: Buying Posts in Crypto Channels (Unofficial)
The oldest Telegram play: pay a channel owner to publish your post. No character limits, external links allowed, full creative freedom — and zero platform protection. Typical reported prices: $10–50 per post in 1k–5k subscriber channels, $150–500 at 10k–50k, and $1,500–5,000 in 100k+ channels; crypto/finance channels command CPMs of roughly €5–15, above general channels. Marketplaces like Telega.io broker these deals with escrow and standardized placements (the "1/24, 2/48, 3/72" notation = hours pinned top / hours kept in feed). Two survival rules: check real engagement (views-per-post versus subscriber count — bot-stuffed channels are everywhere), and never prepay a channel owner outside escrow.
The Crypto Policy, Precisely
Telegram's official ad guidelines contain no crypto-specific prohibition. What they do ban: gambling, casinos, betting and lotteries; and "deceptive or harmful financial products" — get-rich-quick schemes, pyramids, MLM. Paid products must disclose fees and terms clearly. Translation for crypto advertisers: an honest exchange, wallet, tool or token with clear terms passes review; anything promising returns doesn't — and crypto-casino hybrids fail on the gambling rule regardless.
What Actually Works on Telegram
- Build the t.me destination first. Official ads can only link inside Telegram, so your channel or bot IS the landing page — pin the essentials before spending.
- Write like a message, not a billboard. 160 plain characters with one concrete hook out-click hyped copy that reviewers will reject anyway.
- Use channel targeting as geo/interest targeting. Picking the channels IS the targeting — a list of 20 relevant crypto channels beats broad rotation.
- Mix routes by job: official ads for scalable reach, one or two vetted channel posts for the launch-day spike.
Completing the Funnel Beyond Telegram
Telegram's official ads keep users inside Telegram — great for community growth, limiting for web conversion. The complement is a channel that sends verified clicks to your site: on Coinserom, banners in 16 standard sizes at published rates (617 sBTC (≈$0.50) CPC / 1,234 sBTC (≈$1.00) CPM base) and native in-feed post ads reach the same crypto crowd with external links allowed, geo/device/language targeting and bot-filtered billing. Run Telegram to grow the community and Coinserom to convert the web traffic — both from the advertisers page.
